Copic Blog Candy Giveaway, Copic Club Sign-up Info and a Copic Tutorial!

Yes, It's Copic Day! Woo-hoo!!

I'm giving away a whole box of 36 Copic Markers
and you can enter by placing a comment here on this blog entry!

We also have a new club opening and all the details are here for you to join but first, I have been promising a Copic Marker Tutorial and I am finally posting it. Keep in mind, I am no expert like some of the other bloggers out there but my tutorial is easy to understand and I am happy with the results.

To begin, I stamped my image using Brilliance Graphite Pigment Ink. I heat set it with my embossing gun.

I began coloring by using a light pink marker and coloring the bottom half of the ice cream. I left a margin around the top near the hot fudge. The pink marker I used is RV02 but you can use any light pink Copic Marker you want.

Next, I added a darker shade of pink, (RV04) along the line under the fudge.

Using my colorless blender, I used a small circular motion along the line between the light and dark pink.

Here are the results.

Next, I used a tan color called Sand, (E33) and Sepia brown, (E37) for the chocolate fudge.

Again, I blended them together along the line using a small circular motion. The reason this doesn't pill the paper is because Copic markers are alcohol based, not water based. If you tried to do this with Stampin' Up markers and a blender pen, you wouldn't be able to blend quite as much without beginning to pill the paper. I have seen some fabulous tutorials on The SU markers and blender pen technique but I can't seem to get mine to be smooth when I'm done. Mine just looks like an old sweater that needs a shave. LOL!

Once blended, it looks like this.

Then, I added  red and pink to the cherry- (RV04, RV29) and a darker and lighter grey to the bowl and spoon, (C3, C5) and blended those using the same technique.

And now my ice cream sundae is ready to use for a card project.

It takes a little practice and I still need more practice myself but once you have the idea down, you can play with it until you get it to look the way you want. It's a very different look that Prismacolor pencils and Odorless mineral spirits. I think the main difference is that The Prismacolor pencils with OMS looks more textured as you can see in this side-by-side comparison.

(The Prismacolor pencils/OMS picture is on the left, the Copic Markers picture is on the right.)

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. And now, we are ready to open our next Copic Marker Club.

Here is how you can join.

We currently have 40 spots available and we have boxes A, C and D- no B but we will be getting more B's and we will also be getting colorless blenders in very soon. Then will be on our online store.

Beginning on Thursday morning, (1/24/08) at 10:00 AM central time, if you want to sign up, you must call our store at 608-579-1026 or 608-579-1027. We are available from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM central time on Thursday, Friday and until 4:00 PM on Saturday.

You will need your credit card number available. Please do NOT email me or contact me through our forum, our online store or my blog. I will not be returning Copic marker club email messages unless you are already a club member and had a problem with your shipment.

The ONLY way to sign up will be to call our store.

Once the club is full, we will continue to take names and info and we will order as much product as we need to get everyone who is on the waiting list into the next club ASAP. There's a good chance we can get everyone in by mid to the end of February. So, don't give up just because there are only 40 spots right now. If the lines are busy, please call back, don't leave a message. I know this may seem like a pain but it is the best and most fair way we can do it right now. And, nobody will be left out. We will order as much as we need and we will be able to get the product, it just might take a couple of weeks to get everyone in.

Club info:
The Copic marker club is a club where you commit to purchasing 6 markers each month for six months. In your last shipment of 6 markers you will also receive your storage box and you will have a complete set of 36 markers. You can then choose to continue to collect more boxes the same way. There are 4 boxed sets of 36 markers. These are the Copic Ciao markers. Your cost is $25.00 per month and that includes shipping. This club is open to anyone in the world.

NOW FOR THE "Box of Copic Markers Giveaway!"

Post a comment here and I will randomly choose a winner who will win a box of 36 Copic Marker of their choice!  If you win and you already signed up as a club member, we will give you the choice of staying in the club or you can give your spot to someone else. So don't be afraid to enter!
(approx. $150.00 value!)

I hope you all have a great week. I will keep this contest open until Sunday night- midnight central time and on Monday morning I will announce the winner!

Good luck and have a great one!

Hugs,
Gina K.

I have been on the fence about these markers, because there is always something better that comes along as soon as I get the "next best thing!" I *was* a Prisma pencil and OMS girl through and through, but to see the ::gasp:: difference at the end and how much easier the Copic markers seem to be, I'm sold! Besides, the OMS really aren't "odorless" in my opinion!! I always feel like I am about to start a campfire! LOL!! Thanks again for your great tutorial!!! I hope I win so I don't have to convince hubby that I *need* to have these after I just acquired all the Prismas!!!!

Thanks for the step-by-step tutorial. You make it look so easy! And the side-by-side comparison really makes the difference between prismacolors and copics much more distinct than I had imagined. Thanks for giving us all a chance at such amazing blog candy!

Gina you are the best! I love it when you have copic give away's. I'm still waiting to get my hands on a set. I am anxious to find them because I love to do my journaling with new mediums I discover and although markers are not new to me, Copics definitely are. Thanks for sharing and offering them.

Thanks for showing with the blender pen. Most go back over with the light color to blend. Like the look you got. As for using blender pen with SU markers.. forget it.. I'd rather use aquapainter... like that look so much better than the blender pen. That being said... pick me!! I so wanna play with Copics!!

The tutorial REALLY explained a lot for me! The blender pen is key it seems! And showing the difference between the Prismas and the Copics was a great visual for me. I currently have Prisma pencils and I love them, but I'd love to get my hands on some Copics! I'm gonna ask my husband if I can join the marker club! Thanks for the chance to join in the fun!

This is great. I recently purchased a book about watercolor painting. I thought it would help me understand what my Stamped, then colored projects were missing. This was so helpful because I've noticed the variations in color on other artists projects but wasn't sure how to achieve that. Thank you so much.
