Preview Party Begins! Bring on the Blog candy!

I'm always so excited when we have a new release right around the corner!

We had planned to only release new stamps every other month but we realized that with Easter and Mother's Day, we would have to release those items with plenty of time for shipping and project making. But that just means more fun stuff to play with so I'm actually pretty happy about it! I love new stamps. And this month's release is fabulous!

Tonight, I am going to show you the only Gina K. set in the bunch! And, it's the one you get free when you purchase any three stamp sets. I LOVE this set. In fact, I got a few emails from my Design Team telling me they can't believe this one is actually free!

This set is called "Spring blooms." I designed this set to be perfect for many of the women in your life. If comes with lots of words and three beautiful long stemmed flowers. You can use this set for Mother's Day, of course, but also for so much more.

Here is a picture of the full stamp set so you can begin to think about all of the fabulous cards you'll be making when you get this one for FREE! LOL!

Don't you love the "in-law" stamp! You can use your stamp-a-ma-jig to line it all up or just line it up on your acrylic block and stamp away! I really like the word "hope" too. I think that can be used for sympathy, illness, and encouragement as well as Easter. I like to have stamps that are versatile.

As you can see, I stamped the word "Mom" on one of the Gina K. Designs Bling & Dazzle Plastic tags. The tags are still in stock and many of these words fit those tags really well. (We're still waiting for our shipment of flower outlines. But they should be back in stock soon too.)

Do you like that background paper?
Do you know you have tons of that laying around your house right now?

I love to go to Goodwill and look around. I can always find something cool to embellish, something fun to store stamp supplies in or something to use for stamping in some cool way. This trip was no exception. I was looking at books. (I love to read.) And I was looking at all the novels and this one caught my eye. So I bought it. Then, I realized I already had it. So, I used it to make some patterned paper.

I read the whole page to make sure there wasn't anything inappropriate for all eyes to see and I tore it out of the book. I trimmed it to 3 3/4" X 5".

Then, I crumpled it all up in a ball.

I know, so far you're thinking, "I can do this!" LOL!

Then, I flattened it out again. I used some Tim Holtz distress ink by Ranger. The color is called "Old Paper." Sounds about right... (If you don't have this, you can use any dye ink. SU creamy caramel works well too.)

I used a direct to-paper-technique where I just lightly rubber the ink pad directly over the paper so the ink grabbed mostly on the raised crumpled edges.

When I finished, it looked like this. (The photo is actually a little dark- it's a bit lighter in real life.)

Then, to soften it a bit, I used a brayer and rolled on some Palette Ink in the color "Haystack." (SU Sahara Sand would work too or any other paler tan of lighter brown dye ink you have in your stash.)

And that's it! Here is a closer view where you can see the background paper and focal image.

I colored my rose with Copics and added some gold cording to make an elegant embellishment.

So what do you think of our free stamp set this month?
Drop a comment here and I'll pick a winner who will win a free stamp set of their choice from our new release!

I'll post the winner tomorrow evening when I post Preview Day 2! AND, tomorrow, you are going to meet our newest illustrator, Rupa Shevde. You are going to LOVE her style!

See you tomorrow evening!

Hugs,
Gina K.

You know Gina, I have to tell you, something I love about your tutorials, and your blog posts. You use products, but you always give alternatives. Like if we don't have that particular ink, you say, "this one will work". It helps so much to know that we don't *have* to go out and buy that exact product to achieve the results similar to yours. It seems you are always looking out for our money, not making us buy things we don't need if we have something that would work instead.. Like the One *step* can tutorial. I love that, even though I have nestabilites, it makes the new stampers feel like they don't have to have all the *new* things to be part of the pack..LOL.

Ok enough babbling, just wanted you to know it! Love this new set.

Oh, Gina. This is a beautiful set with lots of possibilities. About the paper stash...I just can't bring myself to tear a page out of a book. Former teacher in me possibly? Maybe I should look for a damaged book with pages missing already. It is a great look for the background. I still hope to make it in to the store tomorrow!
