King of the Grill- Preview Day 1

Today is such a busy day! It's our third and final day of this month's guest designer spot and it marks the first day of previews for our new release coming this Sunday, April 20th!

One of our new stamp sets this month focuses on the man in your life. Most guys like a card with a little bit of a sense of humor and Rupa Shevde's "King of the grill" is the perfect choice. I remember growing up, my Dad never so much as boiled water in the kitchen but if anything was going to be grilled, her became Wolfgang Puck! And the grill is only a small part of this stamp set. Wait until you see the other images. This set is loaded with all of his favorites.

Father's Day isn't the only use for this stamp set. It's also quite versatile as there are other greetings such as "Happy Birthday" and "Thanks" for your "Mr. Fix-it."

Do you like our new "Bling & Dazzle" For him? Gina K. Designs "Bling & Dazzle Screw Brads" are the perfect accent for all your guys cards. They give a nice little touch without an ounce of "girlie fluff."

For this card I decided to use "Guy ribbon." LOL! That's what my hubby and I call Hemp cording- "Guy ribbon."

Do you like the woodgrained patterned paper? (It reminds me of a wooden deck- perfect for the grill.) I made that paper myself and it's super easy.

To begin, grab a piece of Stampin' Up More Mustard card stock or and equivalent.
You will also need a brown ink pad and a white or off white pigment based ink pad. I used Burnt Umber Palette Ink and then I added some Vivid Ink in Brown at the end. I used Colorbox White Pigment Ink.

To begin, take your white pigment ink pad and rub streaks directly down on to your More Mustard card stock.

Then, take your brown ink pad and rub long streak down on top of your white. Here is a picture with one side done.

When I got done with it, I still wanted the wood to look darker so I added another coat using my Vivid Brown Ink.

Doesn't that really look like planks of wood?

I colored my grill with Copic Markers and then I added some Crystal Lacquer to give the grill and the burgers some shine and dimension. Crystal Lacquer is similar to Stampin' Up's Crystal effects. See the nice shine reflecting off of the side of the grill? Inside I will stamp "Happy Father's Day" and write about one of my great summer grilling memories with my Dad. He will get such a kick out of this card!

Need some more guy card inspiration?
Check out what Melanie and Kendra have cooked up for you using "King of the Grill!"

*And, you could win this set plus your own pack of Screw brads by dropping a comment here. I'll announce the winner tomorrow during preview day 2!

Today is also the last day with our guest designer of the month, Christina Fischer. Check out the beautiful picture frame she designed and read a little bit about this fabulous designer!

See you tomorrow with preview day 2!

Hugs,
Gina K.

I am wondering . . . should work about the same with blues to get the faux denim look. I need to give that a try as well. Thanks, Gina! I would SO love to win this set.
