Preview Day 2- Comfort & peace
(Hi! I'm Erin Kellogg. I have been a stamper now for about 5 years and I love it. I'm also the mom of two great boys, ages 3 yrs old (just had his birthday last week!) and 22 months. They keep me busy. I'm training them to love crafts so we can spend quality time in my stamp room. We also watch an alarming amount of Yo Gabba Gabba and Calliou on TV. After all that, if I get a chance, I do boring stuff like cleaning and cooking food.)

Many months ago, I got a wondeful and meaningful email from Erin Kellogg.
Erin told me about something that she felt was missing from her stamp collection. Something that she could not find anywhere in the industry.
She explained to me how there are times in your life when you need to create a card for someone who is suffering in a situation where certain greetings are just not appropriate. "Get well soon" just isn't an option. "Things will get better" isn't appropriate. Sometimes, you just want to let someone know you care.
I called Erin right away and we talked for quite some time. I really thought that she had a great idea so I created a stamp set that would address those times. I asked Erin for her input for greeting ideas and together, we created our new "one free with 3" stamp set called "Comfort & Peace."
The greetings in this set are perfect for letting the recipient know that you are there for them, that you care and that they are loved.

There are far too many times when I've needed to send a card like this to someone. I really love having this set in my collection knowing that now I can send just the right words when they are needed most.

To create the focal image on this card, I used a technique called "Thumping."
To begin, I used a mustard yellow colored ink by Palette called Cognac. This is the same ink I used to stamp the background paper. Then, I chose a couple of Stampin' Up markers- Really Rust, Always Artichoke and Pumpkin Pie.
I inked up the image with the Cognac ink.
Then, I colored over the stems with always artichoke and colored the berries with really rust.
Next, I tapped my all over my leaves with the Always Artichoke marker and tapped my flowers with the Pumpkin Pie maker. (That's the thumping part.)
Then, I "huffed" all over the stamp to reactivate the moisture in the ink. (That means breathing out through your mouth with warm moist air.)
Then, I stamped it and I attached it to my card.
Card details:
Stamps: Comfort & Peace
Ink: Palette ink in Cognac, Stazon ink in black to stamp on the piece of vellum
Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Apricot Appeal by Stampin' Up, Vellum paper
Other: Stampin' Up markers, brads, ribbon, nestabilites dies.

This is a perfect set for several cards needed for friends in 'unsettling' situations right now. Though I can't do much for them, I'm there to hold their hands and pray with them. Great idea.

Ohhhhh......I saw a preview of this on Mel's blog and have absolutely put this on my must-haves for Sunday night!!! What a very comforting and heartfelt stamp set!!!! And the thumping technique really softens the images and gives such a watercolor and ethereal look!!!

I could not agree with you more about this line of words for cards. Isn't that why we make our own cards??? At least this is why I do. Store bought cards are to generic. They are not individualized for that one person you really know, so now we can finally give a card from the heart and hands that says what we want to say.

Wow Gina, this is such a great stamp set. The sentiments are perfect. I agree with Erin; sometimes "get well soon" or "sympathy" phrases are not appropriate. The phrases in this set would be great for the front of the card and then include a Bible scripture on the inside to finish it off. Even if I don't win it, I will be buying the 3 sets to get this free. I can't wait until the 20th.

What a beautiful and sensitive set - so many times I've had to come up with something myself and hand write the sentiment - and that's fine - I actually enjoy that - however, it's so very nice to have something this great to just pull out and use - especially when the brain goes on the fritz. WOW-I am speechless. The set is touching and beautiful. It is easy to see that you weren't just inspired by a phone call, but touched in your heart when it was developed. If I don't win (which I really hope I do), you get bet I will buy. This set is a must have for any stamper, new or old.

You are so right, this stamp set is much needed! Sometimes "get well" is no option, even if you would love to be able to use it, but what if you know that someone will definitely not recover? I think this set is great! Going through a personal tragedy just recently, this set brings me comfort. This set reminds of what some of are friends have told us through our personal tragedy of recent. I would love to win this set! Hey Gina! When I saw your sample and all the pieces in the set, my jaw dropped. Not only are the flowers beautiful, but you can tell that Erin put a lot of thought into the sentiments. We all hate to have to make sympathy cards or cards when someone is sick and they just aren't getting better, but this set truly will make the job of making them easier. Finally, some words that can show you truly, truly care!

I can really see myself using this. I recently had to make a sympathy card for a distant family member and had no appropriate sentiment to use. I ended up hand writing the sentiment "peace and comfort be with you"...which is similar to "wishing you comfort and peace"...love this set.

This new stamp set is absolutley perfect for the times when you want to send a card and let someone know you are there. My cousin Tammy has been battling melanoma for two years. Lesions have now mestatasized into her lungs, liver, and pelvic bones. The doctors have finally told her there is nothing more they can do for her.

I discovered this set yesterday and I must say they are fantastic. I haven't seen many stamps around this theme, so I think it's a good idea to bring this on the market!

I really like the words that you have chosen to design for this set. As my friends get older, they need encouraging words told to them. What would be better than to receive a surprise handmade card with these words on and in them? Fantastic

I so agree with Erin. It is so hard to make a sympathy card without the right words. This set is so perfect. It's hard to say something to someone going through a death of a loved one or other drastic event without sounding like everyone else. I would so LOVE to win this set!!!! Please pick me!!!

I wish this set was available a couple months ago! It would have been good for a card for an aunt who's cancer returned. We lost her yesterday. This is a beautiful set, and it it is so perfect for those difficult times when 'get well soon' or a simple 'thinking of you' just doesn't cut it.

I love this set! The sentiments are something that I could use everyday. As a nurse, I frequently am looking the the right saying to use, especially when I know the outlook is not promising. This set is a must have, and one that I would use often. Many thanks for creating this!
