Thirteen years ago on the thirteen of June, I gave birth to Alicia. She was so little and sweet. I remember the feeling of holding her for hours on end. In fact, I don't think I ever really put her down that whole first year. I loved the way her head smelled. I still do, except now it smells like the latest hair gel or manipulator. 
This is her golden birthday, (13 on the 13th,) so we have a few extra things planned. For her birthday she asked for Photoshop Elements and Koh-i-noor pencils with OMS and blending stumps. She's been coloring her drawings with them lately and she loves them but she doesn't have her own set yet. Later today, she will.
I decided to go for a shabby chic kind of theme for her birthday card. 
Alicia, like most girls her age, loves her cellphone. She texts me all the time. I especially love when the message reads "i luv u!" So I thought I would make her a cellphone card. Alicia actually came up with the concept for this stamp set so I knew ahead of time that she'd like it.
I used crystal lacquer on the screen to make it glossy.

Early Sneak Peek!
For the inside of Alicia's card, I'll give you a little early sneak peek from a new stamp set that will be released on June 20th at 10:00 PM central time. We have a new group of Kindred Spirits stamps coming out- Kindred Kids. There is also a new set of greetings called "Kindred Greetings for Kids" that you are going to LOVE! This greeting is one of the stamps from this new up and coming stamp set.
Here's a scrapbook page that I made of Alicia. She was only a 1 1/2 years old when I took this picture. Where did those years go?
The journaling says, "The simple joys in life for a 1 1/2 year old are trying something new, making a connection, putting the pieces together. Oh, how I love watching you grow. Alicia- Lego Land, Mall of America, Minnesota, 1996. (It should say 1997. I have to change that! LOL!) I used our Autism Stamp set, "Love you to pieces," to create this page. The embellishments ready "see-try-grow."

Tonight, Alicia gets to choose a restaurant for dinner. She already chose "Edo Garden," a Japanese place where we'll have sushi. (She loves Sushi!) So, I am now officially the mom of a teenager! Ugh! I'm not ready yet...

My brother is 6'7" tall and weighs, well, a LOT! My mom still tells him he'll always be her baby! He's 50 now! LOL! I think I shall have to make her some cards to give him with this set!

She is beautiful! Happy Birthday to her! My son will be 13 this year too....his hair actually looks almost exactly like your daughter's except much lighter in color! He wants it long to stick out of his football helmet...but I think he reached that point months ago..funny thing is is that my husband (his father) is a barber! I LOVE that picture of your daughter - she looks soo happy! Enjoy your dinner! and I know you will enjoy giving her the gifts she wants, as they will only encourage her in her art!

It's easy too see how much you adore Alicia. it's wonderful when a mom and a thirteen year old girl can be so close. I imagine you are a great mom and she seems like an awesome teen!! Happy Birthday Alicia, great choice for presents! I would have picked them too. LOL!

Awww, what a sweet little baby. What a terrific mom to tell her how you feel. I love the card, and it's terrific that she is so artistic as well. You have a beautiful daughter, Gina. As for the teenage years, grab ahold of something, and hang on!! My son went from 13 to 15 in 0.6 seconds (I think), and a bit of a bumpy ride. He's headstrong like his mama! LOL

Happy Birthday to Alicia. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th also. One of the local stores was giving away 100.00 to anyone born on that day. That was 1978. LOLOL! I thought I was the coolest kid..boy how things have changed!

My hubby turned 13 on the 13th too and the little town in Iowa put him on the front page with a broken mirror! He wanted to get married on his birthday too (a Friday that year). I said no. 36 years later we still argue about it. Alicia-have fun growing up-you only live as a teen for 7 years. Each one is special. My baby just turned 31 and he still acts like a kid. My grand daughter is on her last teen year. Where did the time go?

Happy Birthday to Alicia! Don't worry about being mom to a teenager; they aren't so bad! I dreaded the whole teenage thing with my son but guess what? I found that I really have enjoyed him as a teenager. Sure he has his sassy, moody times (don't we all?) but it is fun to see him getting involved in interesting activities and thinking about things more deeply. We have some pretty cool conversations. Enjoy because the next few years are going to fly! My guy just finished his Sophomore year in HS and I know the next couple are going to fly!

I love this sweet little saying! I always call my 5 yr. old DD baby, she always retorts with "I'm not a baby, I'm a big girl" so I always tell her, she'll always be my baby.. I'm going to have to get this for sure!!

Enjoy these moments! My babies are now 19 and 17, both girls. As for the teen years, I actually enjoyed them. We had our tough moments but overall they were our best years yet. It so nice to be able to relate to them on a more adult level (at least MOST of the time!). It goes by fast.

Gina, What a very beautiful daughter. I have a son born on Friday the 13th in September. His lucky day is every Friday the 13th. We celebrated by having 13 of his friends over. Sad to say he is 22 already but I will call and wish him a happy friday the 13th! Should have sent a card!
P.S.--I just got my koh-i-noor pencils and can't wait to color. I plan on taking them camping next week. Have a great birthday--Kathy

Gina, I am very sorry that I did not tell you what I think of your card and scrap page. I *love* the card that you made. I really like that you used crystal lacquer on it. It is a wonderful idea. I have this set and must use it. The cell phone is so neat for anyone but especially for a teen. I also love the scrap page that you made for Alica. Using the stamp set for Autism is looks lovely on her page.
