Tagged
I got tagged by a friend of mine through an email and the tag said that you are supposed to put three things you love about summer and email it to everyone you know.
I usually don't participate in any kind of tags anymore, mostly because I get a lot of them and I don't always have the time to do them. So, I decided that I never wanted anyone to feel like their tag wasn't important to me, so the best thing to do would be to not participate in any of them. But since this was an email tag, I thought I would play here on my blog. It gives me an opportunity to have a fun giveaway and to say thank you for letting us know how much you are loving our newest release. (I don't think we've ever been this busy, and it's all thanks to you.) And, it also gives me an opportunity to show you a few picture of what summer is for the K. family. (LOL! What's the point of even putting my last name. Nobody uses it anymore.)
One of the best parts of summer for us is this.

We have a travel trailer that is currently set up in a seasonal resort about a half an hour from our home. It's great because we can go down for a day or a weekend. They have a beautiful pool, tennis, a huge lake, golf across the street and live bands on the weekends. (Unfortunately, the lake is completely flooded and cannot be used due to the flooding here in the midwest but our trailer was spared any damage and it's still lots of fun because everything else is available at the resort.)
Now, it's not the trailer part that I love. (Don't get me wrong, two bedrooms, a full bathroom and a full kitchen with a microwave isn't a bad way to camp! LOL!) But what I love best about this trailer is what happens here. It's usually just us. Tom, Alicia, Rina and me. We hardly ever eat anything other than hot dogs, but we cook them over an open fire. And we talk. And we really talk. And we laugh. We learn more about each other's lives. We open topics that otherwise would be met with an eye roll. And we find out what are kids are thinking, wondering, what makes them happy, sad, scared and excited. And we talk some more.
When we get home, everyone scatters in four different directions. But I know, that soon, we'll be back around that fire, learning more about each other. It's gold.
. . . . . .
Another great part of summer for us is swimming. The kids are such good swimmers and it's so enjoyable to watch your kids do things you can't. I can swim so I don't sink, but they can SWIM, BABY!

Rina- backstroke

Rina- butterfly

Alicia on the block
The each got all their state cuts last season and this year Alicia aged up so the process starts again. Ugh! LOL! They hate it when that happens.
. . . . .
And the last favorite thing I will choose, is this.

This picture was from last summer at Bible Camp in Minnesota and these are my kids best friends in the world. They have NEVER had a so much as a cross word with any of these kids, even when they all lived together for a whole week last summer.
Nobody looks at each others clothes or shoes or what their labels say. Nobody cares about weight or height or who's a faster swimmer or a better soccer player. Nobody cares if they have a pimple or a bad hair day. They are all different and unique and they love that about each other. They listen to each other without judgement. They share the most important common thing- they love God. They laugh the whole week away and have fun being silly. In fact, they all cried last year when it was time to leave. We won't make it up there this summer due to other plans but we hope to get back there again next summer. We'll miss these kids a lot this year!
. . . . . .
So those are three of my many favorite things about summer.
I'm not going to tag anyone but instead, if you'd like to share three things you love about summer here in the comments, on Wednesday, I will randomly draw a name and you will win my favorite summer stamp set, "Just Be-claws," (Or any other stamp set you'd like instead.)
We are super busy processing your orders and we plan to have all the orders out by Friday that have already been placed. We will do our best to get them out ASAP.
I hope you are all having a great start to your week.
Make it a GREAT day!
Hugs,
Gina K.

wow - what great favorites. Oddly enough, my summer memories/favorites are similar to yours. As I'm now a full-time professional with no children, we don't take summer vacations anymore but I remember my favorite moments from summers growing up.
1 - Camping with my family in our travel trailer. We saw the entire Northeast over the summers while growing up. Part of camping was making and eating hobo pies, making jam and butter twists on sticks. Also just spending time with the family and riding bikes all around the campground.
2 - Going to the library and doing the reading club and being so far ahead of everyone else that I was told to slow down.
4 - Going to a Christian camp as a camper and counselor - it was a joy to see young kids learning more about God and wanting to draw closer to Him all the while drawing closer to God myself.
3 - Long days with balmy summer nights and drinking lemonade on the deck - this is as close as I can get to summer these days.
Thanks for sharing your favorites and the blog candy. Hope I'll be the lucky winner.

For a Grandma - the best part of summer is that my grandkids have more time for ME. Trips to the Butterfly House, Picnics at the Children's Garden, just time at Grandma's house.
Then there is just the plain weather - being able to have the fresh air circulate through the open doors and windows.
Finally - vacation - even if $4.00 a gallon gas forces it be to a closer-to-home trip - it's still vacation.
Thanks for a chance for some Blog Candy.

Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. Summer is great unless it is way too hot. I love working out in both the flower and veggie gardens, also to be able to take my coffee out in the morning and watch the sunrise, then we take our holiday at the end of July at a resort up north ( we go with 6 other couples and only have one meal to cook for the week as we each take turns ) and our breakfasts are up at the chip wagon every day) Have a great week, Hugs n' Stuff, Lynne

My 3 favorite things about Summer are: (1) Hanging out with the family at the lake, taking the kids tubing, cooking out...just being with everyone. (2) Watching our kiddo play baseball! He's so awesome and it's so fun to cheer him on. (3) Vacations - we have an annual "adults only" trip to Mexico each year that is so great! Also, taking our son and a friend to the beach or going to visit family in California. Just getting away is always fun too.

Hi Gina....what a great post! It was so fun to read your summer favorites. Here are mine:
1. Now that I'm a mom to a 10-month-old baby boy, we have found lots of love for summer stroller rides.
2. Visiting my parents at their cabin on the river. We are away from TV, internet, etc. It's very relaxing to go fishing on the dock, read a good fiction novel in a lawn chair and talk to my family uninterrupted.
3. Grilling out with my husband on our deck.
Have a great rest of the summer!

Being English I might have different ideas on summer to a lot of your readers - we have to make the most of the short time our summer often lasts!
3 things I love about it are strawberries from my parents' garden, walks with my dog and sitting outside in the evening.

Three summer favorites....
1. Being a teacher....I don't have to work! This means more time for family, stamping, reading and relaxing.
2. Blue skies and white clouds. I know if sounds cheesy, but nothing makes me happier than this serene picture. It just makes me feel better.
3. We're schedule-free! Besides Vacation Bible School and swimming lessons, we can go where we want, whenever we want! No worries about me staying late at school for a meeting.

Three things I love about summer are:
1. The kids play softball so 3 night a week we are at the ball field and on Saturdays the have an adult against kids game were the adult have to hit left handed as to not hit the ball to hard and hurt one of the kids it makes for a very fun game.
2. My parents live on the river in Brainerd, MN the have 3 different docks at the house and the kids put on their live jackets and spend the whole day fishing and yelling at the dog cause it wants to play fetch with his stick. He drops it in the water and jumps in after it and the kids yell at him for scaring the fish away. Funny thing is they have only caught a fish once cause of the dog but they love it anyway.
3. I love getting ready for Christmas by doing my Christmas in July card swap. I love stamping my winter themed cards in the middle of summer.

#1-Missions-Now that school is out, I can do what I want!! And for me the best summers are the ones where I can lead or join a mission team! After 10 years going to Mexico, this August I will be in Mozambique Africa for two weeks! Bringing puppets and working with children as our group helps to build a church..that will be my summer "work".
#2 Long sunny days and NO SNOW! Living in W NY my whole life, we have snow and cold 6-8 months out of the year and short, dark days...so when it's sunny, warm and bright, I LOVE IT!!!
#3 Time! Lots of time for sipping coffee at 7 am while reading my devotional, gym at 8, shower at 9:30 blogging at 10 am, stamping at noon, movie at 2, dinner (outside!) at 7 and staying up late stamping midnight...oh, and a release party or two
Great question, Gina! Happy day!

1) swimming with our two year old
2) traveling with my husband since Grandma can watch our son since it is the summer
3) drinking lots of smoothies since it is so HOT in Texas. . .and our son loves to help make them with me.
Gina, thanks for all your giveaways! I really enjoy how personable you are on your blog. I feel like I know you some!

1 We too camp and absolutely look forward to our 10 day camping trip - getting out of the fast paced world is aok by me!
2 I love being able to hang out with my daughter, and do "things" with her...she's just getting into scrapbooking and stamping, and is VERY excited about it!
3 we love to hang out at the pool, even thought it is really crowded it is just so relaxing!
Enjoy your summer!

Let me think...
1. Walking barefooted in the dewy grass early in the morning.
2. Picking peaches off the trees and eating them right there with the juices running down our chins.
3. Listening to the kids scream and yell as they catch lightning bugs and put them in jars.

I love your descripition of your favorite things... Mine would be Our Summer family vacation every year Usually to Lake Tahoe... I love this place, the beauty and peace is amazing. Second would be Swimming and the heat, especially swimming with my Granddaughter who is 3 1/2. BBQ's they bring our family together all summer long. My bonus for the summer is a light work load ( I work for the school's)...means extra time for crafting Great question

Your entry was wonderful! I can feel how much you love your camper and your kids by what you wrote. The three things I love about summer....well, first of all, I am a teacher so I really love summer!! ha ha! I look forward to not having a schedule in the summer. How great is that?
The second thing I love about summer is that my two older girls come home from college. The house is always full of activity and excitement when they are at home!
The final thing I love about summer is that I can spend more time with my husband. He works at 2:30PM everyday and gets home from work anywhere from 10PM (rarely) to 6AM (usually). Being that I am a teacher, I am out the door by 7:15am and never get to see him...so in the summer, I am sure to be home before he leaves for work so we can "visit".
Those are my three things. *sigh* They make me happy.

I enjoyed reading about your family and what you love to do during the summer. We are an Army family and my husband works very long hours and when he is off we do things with our kids, but we don't get any time for just the two of us. Every summer my kids go to my parents house and go swimming every day.. along with doing lots of other things. This leaves a lot of time for me and my husband to do things just the two of us like fishing, going out to eat, or just hanging out.. we really are each other's best friend. Thanks for letting us share such wonderful thoughts.

*ps. I am typing this as the packers are here packing up my house.. we are PCS'ing this week back to NC from MO. wish me luck!

Gina, thanks so much for a glimpse again into your family life. It is nice to see that once in a while, too.
My three things -- opening the windows to feel the summer breezes, longer days to spend time with my family, and grillin'. We don't camp out much anymore. My parents have the travel trailer and they are too busy now with the farm.

I think it would be easier to say 3 things I don't like about summer (hee hee) I am one of those people that prefer winter - I know I'm weird. But if I had to pick three things - one would be sitting on the deck and listening the my boys play in the sand. I love how they build lakes and river beds and then HAVE to fill it all up with water. The next would be going to the lake (not so relaxing as your family - my boys want to go everywhere) and lastly now that my boys are a bit older I can usually talk my husband into taking them to the lake by himself for a weekend and I get quiet stamping time! My craft area is in a basement of a bi-level so during the day I have lots of sun and I love that.
Thanks for being so generous Gina - you are wonderful.

Gina, I really enjoyed reading your story. I'm so glad you shared! The pics are great too!
3 things I love about summer? Well, first I LOVE watching our oldest play baseball. He's in the 11U category now and it's so much fun to see how they've all grown. He started on a new team this year after his previous team he'd played on for 4 years disbanded...the coach decided not to coach this year. Fortunately, a few of the boys on this team were on his last so he's really comfortable. They played in the State Championship Tournament this last weekend and Brian hit a homerun...over the fence!!!! It was awesome! His team took 1st place for state! Wow, what a feeling!
Second, I love the time I have with my kids. I'm very fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom but with the kids in school and scouts and basketball and, and, and...we don't always have as much time as I'd like during the school year. We've been to the movies, baseball games, played board games, read....and so much more already! Quality time, you know?!
And last but not least, I like being able to ride the four-wheelers. It's usually too cold during the winter...except for Dad and our oldest...so when summer hits we all get out the bikes and hit the trails. It's so much fun and even the littlest ones, Cody 3 and Shelby 2, love it. We're hoping to go camping at Grand Lake very soon.
Well, now that I've written a book I'll close! LOL! But, thanks again for sharing your stories with us and for all the fun! Katie

1. days without schedules - we keep busy doing what we love until we decide to do something else
2. hot days followed by cooler nights - New England summer days are the best!
3. the beach - whether we spend the day, go for a morning or evening walk, or watch the ocean while eating an ice cream, I never get tired of the sounds, smell and cool breezes off the ocean.

My hubby is in the army and we get a thing called block leave- 2 weeks of uninterrupted vacation- and that's what I love the most! Then there's hubby prepared breakfasts. Last but not least, since we live in the desert we avoid the sun at all costs during the summer, so there's all day movie/stamp days!

I enjoyed reading your summer story! The camping part sounds really nice. I have wanted to go camping with my family for years. I was hoping we could finally do it this summer but prices decided to sky-rocket and money is too tight.
The one thing I love most about summer is spending time with my kids. Even when it's just hanging around the house. I also like swimming and just generally enjoying the outdoors...even though it's almost 100 degrees and humid.

2. The weather. I love all the seasons and while fall is my favorite, I always look forward to hot days, air conditioning and pools for July and August.
3. I love that it stays light so late...I feel my days are longer and I get more done

Mmmm - three things I like best about Summer - what a FUN question and a great way to kick off the offical start of Summer (which was June 21 I think)
1.) Grilling - especially the packets of potatoes, onions and carrots
2.) Smores - all ingredients eaten separately of course - LOL
3.) Long days of sunshine or light - altho it makes it hard for the kids to go to bed, I love that it is light outside for so long.
We enjoy camping also - but only get out 2-3 times a Summer, We hope to have a set-up like yours in the future Gina, only maybe a little further away from home!

What a beautiful story! It is obvious family means a lot to you!! How wonderful that your family takes time just for each other. Hope the girls do great with their swimming! Where do you find the time for everything that you do!
Three things I love about summer:
1) My son has a chance to be a kid and is not all stressed out about school and homework!
2)Less dishes to wash because we cook out nearly every night and everything seems to taste better on the barbecue.
3)More family get tog ethers, holidays, picnics, family reunion etc... and there is nothing more important than family to me! The kids grow so fast you never know how much more time you'll have to spend with them before they are out on their own moving away or just seem to have"more important" things to do. I hope I raised my son right and family will always be important to him!
Thanks for sharing Gina and of course another chance to win. I missed the last release party, but the new sets are fabulous. Definitely on my wish list!

1. As a family, we make our annual pilgrimage to Turner Field to see an Atlanta Braves game. This time my father is going! He has never been with me and my mother before to Turner Field. It is to be an experience that we will never forget including the $4.00 gas prices!
2. I love the midnight ice cream run to whatever drive-thru restaurant is open at midnight. Most of the fast food restaurants are open late in my neck of the woods including the Bruster's that is just around the corner from my new house. Yeah, New House!
3. VBS (Vacation Bible School) is the best week ever at church. This year it at night time so my mother and I are helping out some of the nights. I love helping with the music because I love music!
I already ordered the Just Be-claws set so I guess if I win I will pick something else that is new. I have a couple of sets I have had my eyes on since the release party.

Gina, I just have to say that your post brought tears to my eyes. I loved what you said about just sitting and talking with your kids. Those times are too few. At this stage of my life one thing I enjoy most about summer is that I don't have to "nag" my teenager about his schoolwork. But the thing I enjoy most is that my oldest son is home from college and we're a family again...doing simple things as a family, such as playing card games or going to see a movie.

As a child/teenager I loved going to the town swimming pool almost daily; going camping at Pismo Beach and Morrow Bay and camping at Lassen State Park in California; and just hanging out with my friends.
As an adult, I still love to camp - love roasting marshmallows, making s'mores, traveling and spending time with our granddaughters.
Once again, Gina, thank you so much for the opportunity to win one of your fabulous stamps. This is a set that I don't happen to have, so maybe this time I will get lucky.

I enjoy taking my 2 grandsons to the "kiddie" pool. They are 15 months and 27 months... The LOVE the water!
I love picnics! We like to pack up a meal and snacks and set up a table at the park. The little ones LOVE feeding the ducks and swinging and sliding at the playground!

Gina K. ~ I LOVE your blog for many reasons, but the most important (to me) is your inspiration. I can always count on learning something here ... if it isn't a stamping tip, technique, or tutorial ... it's an important thing about life and living. Thanks for sharing that with us!!
My three very favorite things about summer are very similar to yours ...
1. My three-year old granddaughter has been living with my husband and me for the past year. We recently bought a travel trailer, because we want the same experiences as you described with your family.
2. My husband has worked a lot with my granddaughter teaching her to swim. Although she doesn't have the skills yet that your older children do, she has come a long way over the last year, and I simply enjoy watching her improve every week.
3. The beach ... living in Melbourne, Florida, we actually enjoy this year round ... but not much compares to the beach and the summer.
Thanks again, Gina K., for all you do!!

My three favorite things of summer:
1. Girl Scout day camp: I take a week's vacation every year to help with the day camp. It was last week. The weather was lovely, all 300 girls had a wonderful time, and it was a hugely positive experience for all!
2. My kids come home from college and we get to spend some quality time with them. Unfortunately, this year one is off doing research at the University of Illinois but he visits occasionally.
3. Spending time outdoors whether it's camping, hiking, yard work, or just eating dinner on the deck. I love the warm weather, sunshine and the breeze.

Hi Gina! Oh, there are sooo many things that I love about summer (I've been reminiscing my childhood days on the farm recently). I'm usually off to work by 7:15A, so I don't get to enjoy the early mornings just tooling around the house working on the landscape. That's #1 when I am home on a vacation day. #2 is when we go to the Mountains for a family vacation (be it Colorado, Black Hills,etc.). #3 would have to be my daughters' and husbands birthdays. They are exactly 1 week apart from each other (this year they are on consecutive Sundays starting with yesterday)! I love celebrating their special day! Thanks for the chance to win a great blog bling!

1. Long, lazy days at the beach! Most summer weekends I spent Saturday and Sunday, and sometimes Friday afternoon too, parked in my beach chair soaking in the sun, pretending I'm on vacation.
2. Drive in movies! The next town over has a drive in movie in the beach parking lot a few times a summer. We load the car up with all kind of food (and smuggle in margaritas hidden in gatorade bottles) and chow down and watch a move on the gigantic screen.
3. The smell of a cookout. Even if I'm not the one eating it, there are few things that say 'summer' to me more than the smell of a grill and some burgers and hot dogs grilling away!

I love reading your three things. It reminds me of my daughter's swimming lessons.
Mine are...
1. Warm weather and swimming (or more like floating in my case). When the weather is warm enough, I am out there everyday.
2. The relaxation. Everything seems slower in the summer, not so much running around from one place to another.
3. More visiting with family. We seem to get together more often in the summer.

I think the best part of the summer for us is going up to visit my family for the 4th of July. Every year we go to the little parade and the sandcastle judging on the beach and eat hot dogs and just lounge around the rest of the afternoon. Then we go back and at dusk we do sparklers with the kids. We get our first official burn of the year but have such a great time, no one notices.

Gina, Before I tell you what I enjoy, I first want to say that reading your entry brought tears to my eyes. You describe your campfire chats and I am thinking; wow what amazing parents to listen and be interested in your children and what matters to them. And to know that you have a relationship with God brings such joy to my heart. There is no doubt that you bless so many. May God continue to shower His Blessings upon you.
Now for my favorite things. Summer is not my favorite season, but I do enjoy camping with my mom, sister and niece. We go about 3 times in the spring/summer. I actually pack up some of the stamping supplies and stamp in the woods. It can be very inspirational. I also enjoy going to my mom's for dinner on Sunday evenings. She makes something on the grill and if the weather is nice outside we can eat outside in the beautiful country setting that lives in. And I just enjoy hanging out with my best guy friend any time of the year. When I'm not doing that, I am stamping (of course) or on SCS.

Oh, Gina! I'm so glad you are treasuring those summer trailer trips! Our sons both joined the military and have spent the last nearly 30 years all over the world and taking part in all the skirmishes (both Gulf wars, Afghanistan, Bosnia. Thank God they have come through safely though somewhat tattered and torn at times. Our most precious summer memories are of similar times spent in the mountains here in the Northwest near a small river as we taught them how to swim, fish, exist in nature without harming it, and growing the type of close bonds that you are experiencing without the interference of telephone, TV, etc. for a weekend at a time.
At home, summer means eating on the patio and relaxing after a day's work and enjoying the evening's breeze---also watching the comet display in August with a couple of the grandkids who live nearby. Conversation flows easily in the darkness as selfconciousness of the teens ebbs away with the mystical "shooting stars". Gail

hmmm, just three things?? I LOVE summer and the first and foremost has to be swimming! I just love being in the pool, relaxing, feeling the heat of the sun, looking up at the clouds. It's so relaxing. Second is camping, I too have to have all the luxuries of my trailer but I still love to go to a campground and park, build a fire, watch the colors of it cascade in the dark, hear the crackle, feel the warmth and then, of course, burn the marshmellows! Finally and truly most important is getting together with family and friends. It always seems that summer provides more time (or we take more time) to gather and enjoy one another's company during the summer. As the years go by, that becomes more and more important to me. Thanks for listening and I'd love it if you'd enter me into the drawing.

I have been living in Florida for a few years now and summers are hell hot so I don't enjoy them much but I'll tell you 3 favorite florida-spring things (which is the same as summer in the north!
1- the pool! My son is 5 and autistic and the huge grin on his face and his squeals of delight when he's in our pool are priceless and the highlight of summer days!
2- the vegetation! In June most trees are covered with tropical flowers, magnolias still have some on too. It's breathtaking to drive around and take in the scenery, palmtrees and all!
3- Homemade sorbet! in summer I get my icecream maker out of the closet and we often make berries or whatever summer fruit sorbet. Yum!

3. Playing sand volleyball. We started this last year at my church and its something my friends and look forward to every week. 4 hours of play time for us.

I miss those kid summers...nothing to do, no where to be. I haven't had one of those summers in a long time but I do have the whole month of July off. Can you believe it?? My summer favorites are:
1. Camping - we haul an 04 Rockwood popup with all the toys. It's so nice just to get away and relax
2. Going to Kennywood. I'm from Pittsburgh Pa and we are lucky enough to have an amusement park in a 20min drive. It is super fun and a big tradidtion.
3. Late night it tag. The entire neighborhood plays from 8-80. It is soo much fun!

Gina,
my 3 fave things about summer are reenacting because we do it as a family with time constraints, no stress and meet new & wonderful people at each event. 2nd thing is camping because again no time constraints, the 3 of us are together without any distractions so we can talk and the third is the flowers that grow with all their wonderful scents and colors. I just LOVE summer. Thank you for your time

OOOHHH...this is a good one....
The best things about summer:
1. Fresh, homegrown, organic tomatoes from my dad's garden...best served just picked and still warm, eaten like an apple, with a little sea salt, or perhaps some fresh mozarella and homegrown basil.
2. Competing in the Danskin Women's Triathlon. The money raised goes to cancer research and it's fun to train for something that leaves you with such a sense of accomplishment. The best part of the race: Cancer survivers go off in the second wave of swimmers (after elite athletes) and everyone cheers them on and screams for them and cheers them coming out of the water. Talk about powerful!
3. Hanging out with my boys. I love the sleep as late as you want, nothing scheduled to do, let's spend the day at the lake with friends and then come home and eat dinner on the front porch and watch the world go by. Life is short and our children grow up way too fast, so I love the joys of summer with children.
And, I've got to add a fourth...this is the second year that my kids will get to meet their relatives in Spain. It's not something we do every year, but it's wonderful that my children will get to meet all their long-lost relatives and cousins. It's amazing that language is no barrier for children! It's a wonderfully, enriching experience for them and to see my dad just beem with joy on showing off his grandkids is worth every penny those airplane tickets cost!
I hope everyone has a wonderfully joyous summer this year!

My favorite thing about summer is it makes me appreciate all the other seasons even more. I spent 10 years in perpetual summer when I was overseas, and after the first Christmas, I really missed winter weather. That being said, I really love being able to drive with the car windows open and on those cooler, less-humid days, opening windows in my house to get the fresh air.
I try to visit my kids and grandkids during the summertime, even with gas at $4 a gallon.
Lastly, I love to sit on the swing on my front porch and read. It's quiet out here in SW Virginia, and very pretty.

Loved your comments! Also the pictures and your trailer.
Summer is the best time of the year, I was born in July. I hate winter, fall only means that winter is only a few weeks away and spring is beautiful IF you get to have any spring which we haven't the last two years.
My list would be:
1. The warm sun on me with long days
2. listening to the birds, seeing the flowers
3. Staying at our trailer at Bear Lake
and all that goes with it---not having to do anything except sit and read, do my crafts, wading in the water and watching the boats, cooking hot dogs, watching the birds building nests in the birdhouses we put up and watching the hummingbirds at the feeder and finches at theirs and at the end of the day watching the moon rise over the mtn. and creating a path of silver across the lake.
Thanks for everyone sharing their thoughts on summer, this is fun!

Like your family, we love to camp (in a travel trailer of course). The two trips we really look forward to are Raystown Lake with family and friends and a trip to a campground near the beach. Both of these vacations are meant for relaxing (reading, playing games, eating, swimming in the lakes etc.) Another thing that I have recently discovered is sitting on my porch with a cup of coffee and a good book. If its too hot for coffee, ice tea will do! The third thing would be our gardens, whether it be the flower or the vegetable, both are enjoyable.

Wish I could say I enjoy summer vacations but it looks like we won't be having one of those this summer again...
Three things I do LOVE about summer are; 1. Not having to bundle everyone up in coats, boots, hats
2. Enjoying farm fresh fruits and veggies, YUM!
3. Seeing our sons enjoying our small backyard pool or community splash pads, even if the water is freezing! God is so good!

3 things I love about summer: 1) my kids are home all day! They really enjoy relaxing and hanging out with friends. They work so hard in school all year so I am happy they get this time to "chill". 2) They get chores every day and they "enjoy" it! I know that seems to contradict #1, but it's not a lot I ask them to do and it gives them a focus that they would otherwise not have. They actually prefer the little bit of structure to their day. 3) Pool parties at our house! We really enjoy having friends over who will use our pool! My husband built a nice new cabana so there's some nice, permanent shade out by the pool now. I can't wait to show it off this year! Thanks for the chance to win! Have a great summer! Jackie

Since my children have all grown up into adults and moved away summer is very different than it used to be when it was a school vacation time. I still enjoy it because:
1. The county fair is in August. I love that week!
2. Sunshine and warm, okay hot, temperatures.
3. Vacation Bible School and lots of fun little kids!

All Spring and Summer I look forward to our two weeks of sheer bliss, when we head north to our family's cottage. It is in the middle of no where, our closest neighbor is about 10 miles away, and the nearest town/store is about 25 minutes away. We only have solar panels that provide us with some minimal lights in the evening, as well as running a small TV/DVD Combo. We have a fridge and stove, but that is run via propane.
When we first arrive after packing everything you may ever need, and we get up there after travelling approx. 4.5 hours, and we finally get settled and unpacked, my summer vacation has "officially" started
It is pure heaven on earth as you listen to the Loons, or the Blue Herrins, or are fortunate enough to see a beautiful Moose or Deer, and at times, bears too. It's all there, even though it takes me about two days to wind-down to get use to not having phones ringing, PDA's, and emails and all the other stuff.
This is how I have spent my summer for the past 25 yrs., with my husband as well as some special friends we usually have up on the weekends.
Thanks Gina for the chance to win another one of your generous gifts

Summer is heavenly because:
1- I have 2 months off (bet you can guess my profession!)
2- My vegetable garden grows like crazy.
3- Lots of celebrations: 3 family birthdays, father's day and Independence Day.

Ahhhhh.....Summer!!! My 3 favorite things about Summer!
1} Going to the beach.....a LOT! Living in Southern California really has its perks! We drive 10 minutes down the road to any number of beautiful beaches and just spend the day with the kids in the water, on the sand, in the water, eating lunch, in the water.....it's the BEST! The moms all take the kiddos while the dads work, and we just laze the day away with surfing, boogie boarding, talking, eating.....it's one of the sweetest parts of summer.
2} I'm with you, Gina! We have a 27 foot BH model of the Jayco JayFlight! (When I saw your picture, I thought....HEY, we have the SAME trailer! But then I realized it's a different model!) When we can't get away for long periods of time, we just park it @ one of the local beaches or right @ the military base down the street in their nice new campground. Because, like you said, it's different when you're in the trailer! You can be hundreds of miles away, or just down the street, but in that trailer it's a whole different life! And we LOVE it!
3} The CONSTANT stream of sleepovers! I love it that the kids just go back and forth, and back and forth to each other's houses spending the night! @13-14 years old, sleepovers are so super simple....so all the parents are totally for it! Hee, hee!
Back to my regularly scheduled Summer....church on Sunday!

Hi Gina, You are fasinating. I am new to stamping and can't stop reading.
1. Camping is one of my favorite things to do w/ my husband of now 2 yrs. We have a 5th wheel that we enjoy taking out every chance we get.
2. Karaoke bars. Every chance we get to go to sing karaoke in the summer outdoors preferably is great.
3. Visiting our families when we get a chance. All are far away, so we take turns spending time with them 1 per year.
Thanks again.
JOY
