You can do this...

I like making Thanksgiving cards. Not the tradition "Happy Turkey Day" kind of cards, but rather cards that express something about the recipient that makes me feel truly grateful. Melanie's new "Just so Sporty" set is going to help make that job a lot easier.

There is one Thanksgiving card that everyone should make. And that is a card to someone who is serving in the military. Is there a job in the world that is tougher? I don't think so. I really appreciate all those who serve to protect me. And I appreciate their family's sacrifice too!

For this card, I purchased a piece of 12 X 12 paper from one of my local scrapbook stores called "Scrapbook Memories" here in Madison. I needed a piece of patterned paper in camouflage and they had just what I was looking for.

I stamped the sweatshirt on the camouflage paper and trimmed it out. Then, I stamped the "Thank U" greeting on the front. The background papers are from the Basic Grey "Archaic" 6 X 6 paper pack. The brads are Gina K. Designs "Zoo brads." I used some twine to give it a "roughin' it" feel.

The greeting "You're amazing" came from Rupa Shevde's "Whatever floats your boat."

I want to show you a trick on how to cut out the arm holes like you see above.

The trick is- don't. LOL! Try this instead.

I stamped the sweat shirt on camouflage paper and then I stamped it again on white paper. Instead of trying to cut inside the arm holes on the camouflage one, I cut out the white arms holes and taped (or glued) them on top of the camouflage ones.

See, you can't even tell! And it's so easy that way. Just cut them to match whatever background paper you are laying the sweat shirt on top of.

Here's a little challenge for you.

Make a list of a few of the people that help you through the year. Maybe it's your doctor or pharmacist who always takes a little extra time with you.

Maybe it's the daycare provider who is so patient and loving with your little ones.

Maybe it's your pastor who provides you with spiritual guidance.

Make each of them a card this year for Thanksgiving with a note about why you're thankful for them. I'm sure it will be more precious to them than you will ever know.
.  .  .  .  .
Now, about my typeface. Most of you liked the new clean style but many of you wished it was a bit larger. I wouldn't want any of you to NOT be able to read my blog, so here it is! Sleek new font, next size up. For those of you who said you liked it before, I truly appreciate your input as well. I guess I'm just in the mood for a little change.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Have a great day.

Hugs,
Gina K.

That is a great idea on how to use that stamp set!

I have to say that I usually do cut out little spaces like that with my little tool from fiskars. http://www.fiskarscrafts.com/tools/t_fingertip-craft-knife.aspx
IT really is easy to use and can be bought at Target.

Thanks for all that you do!

Hi Gina! Thank you so much for thinking of our soldiers. As a veteran myself and military wife it means a lot to us when people take time to say a simple but so BIG thank you. I was a soldier, now a soldiers wife and mother of two and I think the toughest job in the military is not been a military wife but been a military "brat" as we call military kids. These little angels go through many moves, saying bye to their friends every 2-3 years and that is just a small part of it. God Bless our soldiers and their families! Thank you!

Gina, you are such an ispiration. I love your card. It's funny you mention thanking those you help you out. Our Pastor just spoke about that this past Sunday morning. He was talking about maturity. And one of the signs of maturity being Affirmation (eg. thanking others for what they do for you). Thanks for the reminder. Since I'm getting some cool fall sets from your company (hopefully they will arrive soon), I must send out some THANKSgiving cards. Have a super blessed day!

Like the bigger font but for some reason it kind of glares at me Maybe against the stark white background. Or a bolder font.

Or these new glasses just aren't working! LOL

    Thanks Gina, you're a doll!

    Gina,
Your thoughtfulness towards our Military touched my heart as my son has been serving for over 10 years now. And I am also a Day Care Provider who sometimes feels like my job doesn't matter, I would love to get one of those Thank You Cards from my childrens parents, so thank you for putting that "Heads Up" out there. And I also have a Pastor whom I adore and have never thanked. If only I could get my hands on that Sweatshirt Stamp!!! LOL I appreciate all you do and again thank you for reminding others to Thank others, it is quite important. And I love the new look of your typeface, excellent choice.

Great idea, Gina, and love the larger typeface. These cards, using any set, would be great---how about for Veteran's Day, especially for those veterans in Veteran's Homes, assisted living, or nursing homes. What an added lift for them. I know my sons will be getting a card from me--both are career military, and retired veterans. I'm so glad to have them back from the "hot spots" around the world!!

I think I need a lesson on how you cut your images so neatly! Your sweatshirt looks like it was stamped directly on the card your 'scissors skills' are perfect!!

A wonderful idea Gina! I know a couple of people who send Thanksgiving cards rather than Christmas cards.

My dh & I are part of a presenting team for Worldwide Marriage Encounter (WWME)weekends. Each year, WWME has World Priest Day to honor our pastor's vocation and say thank you. Our local WWME Community is planning on sending thank you cards to our local priests as well as pastors of other local churches - thanking them for heeding God's call to this vocation of ministry, and serving His flocks. WWME has weekends in many denominations - if anyone is interested they can check it out at www.wwme.org
