Update
Hi Everyone,
Last night my Dad had what they think was either a stroke or a massive seizure. I got the call about 8:00 PM and I went right to the nursing home in time to find the paramedics taking him to the hospital. I was able to ride in the ambulance with my Dad and we stayed with him last night until he was stable. This morning he is getting an MRI to see if it was actually a stroke or a seizure.
He is answering questions and responds to his name but he has no short term memory right now. That may come back but they aren't sure.
I got home at about 3:30 AM. And found my stamp table, just as I had left it with the camera, ready to take pictures for my midnight blog entry. I have the blog entry almost ready as I couldn't sleep much so it was comforting to work on something familiar and keep my mind busy. I will be posting it in a little while.
We are grateful that he survived this ordeal and that he is stable and comfortable. Later today, I will go to back to the hospital to check on his progress and have a visit with him. Our release party will go as planned and, barring any setbacks, I plan to be there. If not, I've heard my design team throws on heck of a bash without me.

Gina - I hope things are OK with your dad. I'm so sorry he is having to go through these things. Oh, Gina I am so sorry you all have to go thru this. I'll say a prayer for your Dad and your family. IIt's so tough to deal with. Thank God he is still here, Gina. Hug him tight and just tell him how much you love him. I'd give anything to be able to hug my Dad one more time. We lost him this past July at the age of 95.

Dear Gina, I am sorry to hear about your father. I know what you and your family may be going through. My MIL suffered a stroke after surgery 8 months ago and she is still unable to care for herself. She is totally bed bound. We will be bringing her to our home once I get my stamp room cleared out ( sniffle sniffle) and stored in my kitchen area...and I will take on the responsibility of caring for her 24/7 unless we can continue to afford some the help of a CNA here and there.Amyway, good luck to your Dad and your family. What a lot to go through at this time of year. But I know how comforting it is to have something familiar to work on to help get you through these times. This will be my first Christmas without my next younger sister who died quite suddenly this last May, and without my (almost) youngest brother(the elder twin)'s wife who became so depressed that she took her own life, despite all our reassurances that we were there for her. A different kind of holiday season...

My prayers are with you during this especially difficult time. My dad had a stroke in Sept 2007. It was one of the most difficult and scarey things that I have seen happen to someone that I love so much. My dad has recovered for the most part, but still has some memory loss. Just like our parents want us to stay little, we want our parents to stay young-- life just doesn't happen that way, does it?

I wish I had some words that could take away even a tiny bit of the pain in your heart...........but I don't. All I can do is let you know that you are loved and supported and that God will always hold you in His hand..........He is the one that first held our hands and will be the last to hold our hands...........and in that I pray you will find comfort!! Gina...I'm so sorry. Children of aging parents is a hard thing. My 83 year old mother-in-law fell this week and is in the hospital with a fractured pelvis. She's taking it pretty hard since the whole family was to be there for Christmas. We'll work out something! Hugs to your Dad.
