LOVE this idea Gina!! Great way to recycle all those cards I've received (and that stockpile of card I purchased before my stamping days!!! ha!). Thanks!

___________________________________________

Good Monday morning!

Today's challenge is to use a piece of a store bought card you've received and turn it into one you can send!

Look at this elegant card we received. It's just beautiful. Every year, we received many cards from the many merchants and professionals that we do business with. Although I enjoy displaying these beautiful cards, the only ones I save after Christmas are the handmade ones and the ones with photos. So this one would be recycled.

But when I received this card, I knew I had to re-use some of it for something. I decided to grab my yellow Marvy snowflake punch and see it this card would make pretty snowflakes.

They looked so pretty punched out.( It's hard to see how much they sparkle in this photo.)

I decided to make a snowman thank you card to send to Alicia and Rina's Aunt and Uncle for the gift cards they sent to the girls. (The thank you greeting is from "Whimsical Autumn.")

I had enough space to punch a Flourish too so I added it to the bottom.

I attached the snowflakes with pop dots to give them some dimension.

So now it's your turn. Before any of those store bought cards hit your recycle bin, try trimming them up, punching them out or die cutting them and see what you can create!

Upload your "From one card to another" challenge card at splitcoaststampers and use the keyword GINAKDEC29. Then we can all see each other's cards!

Day one of our Blog candy countdown!
Today, I am giving away a package that included the "Let it snow" stamp set, (the snowman above is from that set,) and a super jumbo scalloped snowflake punch!

All you have to do is leave a comment here and tomorrow, I will announce the random winner along with another challenge and another contest!

Good luck and have a great day!
Hugs,
Gina K.

What a gorgeous card using so many wonderful techniques! Snowmen are my one winter wonder -- I just adore them and have started a very small collection. My favorite snowmen and snowwomen are the ones my children build for me in the yard outside my kitchen window. Snowflakes are another winter wonder; they fall so gently and are a comfort. Thank you for sharing such wonderful creativity, Gina! I love the fabulous ideas in this way to recycle cards that would normally be tossed out. Keep up the great inspirations in your blog!! I have repurposed cards we received for several years. If they are big enough, the front becomes a box top and the back becomes the box bottom. I try to do it so the verse is in the center, The hard part is finding a gift small enough for the box which goes back to the original sender the next Christmas. I have also took the fronts, cut them down (or not), layered (or not) and made booklets in which I wrote a letter to the original sender. But I have never thought of using my punches to punch out things like snowflakes. Thanks for the great idea! We got several this year that are perfect for that.

Gina....this is a great idea!!! I have all these old cards and keep hanging on to them. LOL -- I hang on thinking I MUST use the entire front of the card in some fashion. I love the fact that by showing us all this, we get "permission" to just use a part of a card front. Seems like a no-brainer after seeing you used the punch in this way, but I'd honestly never have let myself think this way. Thanks so much for sharing.

    Cheers,
    Stacy

I love that card. Can I ask what you used for the dotted background? I have a hard time throwing out old Christmas Cards, I must have a collection from the last 10 years. Now I know what to do with them.
    Thanks - Elaine Allen

I always save the cards sent to me because I appreciate the thought and time spent regardless if it's store bought or handmade. I don't have the heart to throw them away so you can imagine how many cards are just waiting to be used now that you've shared your 'simple' idea of punching designs out and recreating another card. yipee! I'll be whipping out those boxes and thinking of you. Thanks for sharing this idea.
