Today is our final challenge and our grand prize blog candy to celebrate 2009!
In fact, this blog candy is so big that the contest will stay open until Monday evening!
As cardmakers, almost all the cards we create are 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". It's become the standard size for card makers. But today's challenge is to make a card that is any size but that size! Step outside of the box and make a tall skinny card, a square card, a round card or any other size or style you want. Just don't let it be 4 1/4" X 5 1/2"!
Since the giraffe image from "Just so Hippy" is a tall stamp, I decided to make my card 4 1/4" X 6 1/4".
This size is perfect for 6" X 6" patterned paper because all you have to do is trim off one side at 4" and it makes a perfect mat.
Here's a close up of the giraffe.
I stamped the giraffe with memento black ink on GKD Pure Luxury 80 lb card stock and colored it with copic markers and then I added some bright red prima flowers for Valentine's Day. I used my long rectangle nestabilities to mat the giraffe and a double end tag die for the greeting. The cool background paper is the DCWV self-adhesive mat stack, available in our online store.

Ha! Great stamp for valentines. I need to get my giraffes out and make one. I actually make 90% of my cards 5.5 x 5.5. Not sure when I got into that habit or why, but now 4.25 x 5.5 just seems too small!

This is my first time to ever blog! I've been trying to figure it out since I found your blog. I'm a very new customer to your store after finding you at the expo center a few months ago.
I've been to the store twice since then.
One of the times was at your open house, I have to tell you that was the most fun I've had in sometime. Everyone there was so nice and very helpful.
I look forward to seeing you again. I will have to save up (out of work budget allows very little for my hobby) before I make the hour and some trip again.
I'm glad your dad is doing better. I love your stuff and your daily postings. The so hippy set is on my wish list as well as many others.
Thanks for chance at winning some of the great stuff at your store. I may even try to upload a card today. I was able to look at some others and noticed they do not have to be done with your products, which is great because I'm so new I only have one set right now.

I often cards in sizes other than the standard 4.25" x 5.5" ... makes life more interesting! Mailing them in clear envelopes is also fun; not only for the recipient but also for the Post Office! I can easily find 200 & 9 reasons to order from your website; the 200 & 9 dollars would be a wonderful gift, indeed.

Today's challenge is perfect! I bought a box of "invitaion" envies buth they aren't the standard A2 size. A 4-1/4x6-1/4 card wold fit them perfectly!

I love to make odd sized cards but have a hard time finding envelopes for them. Do you have any suggestions as to where to find them in odd sizes? I would love to have 209 dollars to spend in your store. I am making my list now.

The size of my cards is usually dictated by the envelopes I have, which is typically the one size only. I will have to expand my envelope stash, so I can make different sized cards. What a cute giraffe. I love the flowers. Thanks so much for sharing!!

What a generous prize! I have been making different size cards depending on what size envelopes I have handy! I know it is a silly way to do things, but it works! I spent the afternoon stamping with my 4 year old son and none of the cards are the same size! He stamped his own thank you notes for his birthday gifts.

What a darling card! I have been wanting to start using copic markers but the cost has kept me from switching from my prisma pencils however...a gift certificate like this one would certainly get me going!!tehe.. I didn't realize there was a copic club,so I need to check that out also! Don't know why I haven't noticed that before..probably because I was using pencil and I always spend more on stamps!!

Anything from you is great! But the only reason I like the sketch ones better is you can see the numbers of the colours at the end!! LOL But the Ciao and Sketch colour the same! I haven't used the Originals. Also the sketch do have more colours! I am so there if you do the Copic club again!

WOW!!!!! I have never one anything like that and it would be great. That gift certificate would be a dream come true. I am 6 months along with my 3rd child (a suprise one). Oops! Yes, I think that you should offer all 3 of the Copic sets if enough people are interested. I have 48 original copics and like them very much. I also have the Ciao Copics. I love them both but would like to have some more of the regular. I have no opp inion about the Copic Sketches (do not have them) other then I like the idea of having more colors. Hope this helps.

My daughter loves them! They are the best, we have both the Ciaos and the Sketch. I think since the Ciaos are limited, the Sketch are nice plus they are refillable. It would be nice, if you were to have a variety.

WOW!! What a HUGE giveaway. I look forward to your "A Day In the Life" email its' like A Ray of Sunshine! You are so generous and I love your ideas & cards! Maybe I could luck out & be able to buy some Copics to try them. You make the most beautiful cards with them. Thank you for your blog & ideas!! I think you should have clubs for each kind of Copic markers because this is the only way some of us, me included, can afford them. I am still waiting for a club to open up so I can join to be able to try these markers. I am buying Cottonelle from now on. Can't wait to try another of your great ideas! You Go Girl!!
