Alicia.

When Alicia was about 4 or 5, I asked her to draw a picture for me. She took a pencil and a piece of paper and drew a thin line and a fat line.

She handed me the paper and said, "I'm done."

"So, tell me about this picture?" I asked, not wanting to squish her self-esteem by not knowing what the heck it was. ( I read that in a book somewhere.)

"It's you and me. See, I'm the thin one and you're the fat one."

"Oh," I said, rethinking the whole self-esteem junk. "It's very nice."

At that point, I knew art was NOT Alicia's thing. Maybe music or dance. We'll see.

"Do I have to draw anymore?"

"No honey, go watch Dora the Explorer."

"'Okay Mommy!"

-----------------------------------

Things have changed a bit for Alicia when it comes to art. Quite often, she'll refuse a sleepover because she's in the middle of drawing something, coloring with her Copics or editing some piece of photography. (She took the photo of herself above.)

But when I've asked her about other types of art like clay, painting, and pastels, she's always said that she's not that interested in them.

Until last week.

In art class, the teacher let them choose a photograph of a star and handed them black acrylic paint and white acrylic paint and said "Paint it."

Alicia panicked a bit because she had NEVER painted before and YIKES-- there was no color!!

So she began to paint and as the week went on, she asked if she could stay after school to work on it. She fell in love with painting!

When she brought the painting home, I was pretty impressed with it, especially because it was her very first attempt.

So today, we are having some blog candy.
Who did Alicia paint? Who's that guy? (There's almost a tiny clue in that sentence. )

Here is Alicia's first attempt at painting.

And here is a close up.

I will choose a random winner from all the correct answers and that person will win a set of nestabilities on their choice.

Think about it. What famous person does this look like. Remember, this is all just for fun!
I'll announce the winner on Monday night and show you the original photograph used for inspiration.

Have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Gina K.
