Cool Copic Background

This morning, Alicia showed me this new picture that she drew. (She said it's a modern day Misty holding a Togepi from Pokemon. I think you have to have been forced to watch 1000 episodes of Pokemon to even know what that sentence means. LOL)

I absolutely loved the drawing but I was also very intrigued by the coloring, especially the background. I asked her  how she did it. She said that she colored the entire image with Copics and then added the dots with Copics as well. She placed the dots strategically around the image so, as you can see, there is no bleeding into the actual drawn image.

She drew the image first, then scanned it and printed it using an inkjet printer. Then, she heat set the ink with a heat tool, (embossing gun.)

Once she heat set the ink, she colored it with Copic Ciao markers. The card stock she used to print the image on is Gina K. Designs Pure Luxury 80lb white.

I think that this background would look adorable with images like ice cream cones, cupcakes, balloons, kids, or any project where you want to bring about a feeling of celebration.

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July! We've got something fabulous planned for July 10th so stay tuned!

Hugs,
Gina K.

That is awesome! If that girl of yours doesn't do something in the art field, it will be a big waste of amazing talent! I love the whole picture but that background is really cool. Something fun to try with my Copics. (and I even understood the first part of your blog post! My son, now 17, only spoke Pokemon for several years of his life! LOL!)

OMGosh I know who Misty and Togepi are! My kids (and me sometimes) used to watch Pokemon and have started up again. At least I don't have to watch it with them this time. That is a beautiful drawing of them! Great job Alicia!

I don't speak Pokemon but I thought 'nice drawing' and showed it to my son who does speak Pokemon. He said 'Wow, that's really good! That's *exactly* what Togepi looks like. She's a very good artist!!' So, "great job" from a clueless mom and "great job" from a not-clueless son.

I've been able to speak Pokemon for over 11yrs now because it's in my home constantly (3 boys-ages 14, 13, & almost 7) - I would have recognized Misty & Togepi anywhere! (I'm partial to Jigglypuff & Mew myself) Alicia really did a FANTASTIC job! Can't wait to see more from this amazingly talented young lady!!

Also- I was really interested in the heat setting of the printer ink- I'm going to have to check that out- nothing more sad than printing something lovely only to have it smudged if it gets splashed!

Your daughter is so talented. She could be a cartoonist/illustrator for Pokemon. The image she drew is dead on! My daughter used to love Pokemon. Anyway, I know she has already started using her skills with her stamp sets, but I just wanted to let you and her know she is amazing and to follow her dreams!
