What is it about summer?
It's supposed to be the time of the year when life slows down a bit. But when you have two teenagers, (one is a tweenager,) it only seems to get busier.
Summer is a busy swim season for us. This year, Rina has moved into a new level with swimming and achieved her first Speedo Sectionals cut. She got it in the 400 IM and she is beyond thrilled as this has been her goal two years in the making. She's still only 12 so she's very excited to be swimming with the bigger dogs.
Rina is in the middle with the pink goggles and silver cap.
Below is a photo of Rina (middle with the tattoo on her face,) and her relay team. (I love these girls.)
They broke the 200 medley team relay record this year and Rina broke over 18 individual team records. But her biggest victory is that she is happy and doing what she loves. That's the most important thing to us. (Of couse we can't help but be proud of her that she is achieving her personal goals and yet remains very humble and supportive of her teammates.)
Alicia has found a new love- LaCrosse. She decided to try it this spring and has absolutely found her thing! Although she will always love swimming, LaCrosse gives her more of a sense of "team" that she adores. She won the coaches award this year and she's pretty darn good for a newbie! Instead of swimming at state this time, she passed it up to go to a special LaCrosse camp. That tells me we may be watching a lot more LaCrosse in the future!
Alicia is number 3.
(And some very supportive friends came out to watch her first game of the season! Ha-ha!)
Summer has also brought some big changes to Gina K. Designs.
We've purchased a very large piece of equipment that will be installed this fall and it will do some very special things for us. We are very excited to roll out these exciting changes to you! But we have to wait a little while longer. Trust me- it will be worth the wait! And we are so proud that Gina K. Designs stamps are made right here in the USA in our small little town!
I've also been working on lots of StampTV projects, Gina K. Designs projects, magazine projects, a book project and even something on television too. All of which I can't share a lot about yet but has been consuming me this summer! LOL!

Personal Growth
I've learned a lot this summer.
I learned that my heart must beat inside my children's chests. When they hurt, I hurt so much. When they are happy, I am overjoyed. I feel every stitch of what they live and some days it paralyzes me.
I learned that you can only do so much and that you have to trust in God that what you can't get done won't matter in the big picture.
I learned that you only need one or two real friends and you have more than your share.One real friend is worth more than 1000 false ones.
And I learned that if you need to take a break, people don't bail on you.
I'm so glad that you are all still here with me on my blog.

Sounds like you are very busy this summer. I love to read about your girls adventures. It reminds me about my own children and brings back find memories. I had two in swimming (they never made a state meet but they enjoyed it none-the-less). And band was big with all three of my children. So we know the feeling of watching endless hours of swim meets and band competitions but I would go back and do it all over again. Enjoy your girls and take time for you too.

I loved seeing your "personal" side. We can accomplish anything we want on our business side of life, however if we don't have that human side to balance and support us, to come home to and cushion those lows and share those highs, then what is life all about? Cherish them, and enjoy them, life is so fragile, and we all don't get the joy of having them forever......

Oh MAMA GINA... you are such a great mama. It only gets greater after all those teen and tween age things move on to being young wives and mamas on their own. Our grandchildren are the Lord's blessing for surviving their parents teenage years.(grin) Love my girls too and now we are getting another little pink angel in about 20 weeks. I love that you feel secure in sharing the Mama love. I am so grateful for all the amazing blessings the Lord continues to pour out on us. I loved your articles. My granddaughter who is 14 is a swimmer and she qualified for State and we go to Lincoln the last weekend in July. I just love to watch her swim. She is tall and thin and has big feet so is a natural. LOL

Thanks for sharing your mom stuff. It looks like you have two great kids, and you are so right, summer is even more busy. My 11 year old swims in our city summer league and loves it. I haven't been brave enough (time commitment-wise) to let her commit to year round swimming yet. I also have a special place spot for you being in WI as I grew up in Sheboygan, so it feels like home reading your blog. Can't wait to see what exciting new things you have to share with us. It is clear to me that you have an abundance of love and pride in your children. But please know that your girls wouldn't be doing the things they are doing, making personal goals for themselves and acheiving them, or being brave enough to try new things and finding it to "be their thing" without the love, encouragement and support of their loving parents. Give yourslef a pat on the back girl cause we all, as parents, wonder from time to time if we are doing it right. Obviously....you're doing something right...and good...and precious.

Oh Gina you have proved me right, I have always said to my friends that I imagine you to be the all American stereo type, you know the lady who has perfect children, job, husband and bakes cookies before breakfast. How I know about being a Mom and daughter and priorities. My mom has had a health snafu and summer has been filled with visits from family and friends, trips for bowling tournaments, visits to my mom who is 500 miles away, etc etc. Blogging and card making are one of my many passions but finding balance can be tricky sometimes! A true friend is hard to come by but when you find one, hold on with all your heart! Hugs!!

Gina, What a wonderful summer you and your family must be enjoying. Congrats to your daughters on their accomplishments. I remember many summers with "bleacher butt" from summer league basketball games with my now grown children. Thank you for sharing a part of you and your insight. Congrats to your girls! One of my daughters started swimming in 4th grade all the way thru college on several teams and made many friends. We traveled many places to watch her in this endeaver, it's was fun! It's nice to see our children achieve their goals no matter what it happens to be, happiness all around! Thanks for sharing. Gina, I'm sitting here with tears reading your blog today. Our two daughters were right where your daughers are, except it was Basketball, Softball and Volleyball. We are now at The Ohio State University and Heidelberg University, and our softball career was ended at Heidelberg, due to an unknown illness. We are adjusting to being college parents and enjoying EVERYTHING that it brings, as both are now RA's (Resident Assistants) and are Dean's Lists students. There is nothing better than where you are right now and looking to the future, and I can tell you it's the BEST part of life. Thank you for sharing your Personal Post, it brought back wonderful memories and current happenings that will be remembered forever.

I like it when you share a bit of your non-stamping life - it's like we're all distant friends, and just keeping up. And as a mom, aunt (in my case, or mom to my babies [dogs])or whatever, we always like to brag - cus we're proud, and that's what we do. Sounds like lots of great things in store so I'll stay tuned. Hi Gina your girls are lovely! Sounds like your busy this summer. Enjoy their sports now because they make lots of good memories down the road. Our daughter played softball so we went to lots of games in all kinds of weather and had a blast. I enjoy reading about your family too. I was sorry to read about your father.
